I have since fired the gun with a standard expansion chamber, and the metal gasket, and still got a 90fps increase. This breech arrangement, and also fitting a larger capacity expansion chamber, gave me a 200fps increase in power (using a 12grm cartridge). I have a Yunker 3 AK74 air rifle and fitted a metal breech gasket to it that “locks” into the mag head this via chamfering the BB exit hole with a large drill bit (by hand). Some air is lost down the BB tube, but mostly it’s around the inadequate rubber breech seal (especially at high psi). I think that I would like to tackle this as my first personal mod to this gun - looking for help. Any links or insight would be great!įrom what I understand, the theory is to improve the gaskets so that the mag and the barrel thing (metal piece that the barrel screws into) come closer together with a better seal eliminating air loss between the two, essentially channeling more air down the barrel. I am trying to learn more about the The Zaitsev breech gasket mod that was mentioned, I am finding alot of chatter about it but I cant seem to locate the original post or instructions for doing this properly. I am still doing intense research on this thing - always looking for ways to improve. glad you are enjoying your new "pneumatic weapon"! I am pretty happy blasting away at 1150 psi as my gun is! (I am in no rush) Also Zaitsev's gasket mod is most practical for very high cap mags, like my prototype. I still have yet to improve Zaitsev's mod. 02, The valve Ray has at DrozdMax will help, as well as the Zaitsev breech gasket mod. There are a few good ideas we have been tinkering with. Right now all we can do is reduce that blow-by. A re-design of the mag head/breech is necessary to eliminate the "blow-by". Then there's the russian valve that totalh has imported few pieces of. That and 23" barrel should get you very close to the speed of sound Try 1600 psi since you have Sergei's board. I sometimes refer to mine as an "extreme" bb gun. I would call that restricting the breech blow-by as much as possible, as opposed to "sealing" it off.
It makes any escaping air pass all the bb's in the neck, and find it's way out inside the mag, somewhere. I don't have a chrony, so I don't know the actual numbers, but that's what I did. It's now sleeved with metal that used to be a radio antenna. My approach was to seal off the 4 relief holes in the mag's plastic neck. Re: Bought user "Gat"s Drozd Heavily Modified BlackBird - looking for advice Hope I am on the right track, looking for help and guidance PSI I am right in the sweet spot w the 1250 - obviously we could add a longer barrel, but what I think would be the biggest gain is figuring out a way to counter the open breach, either by better sealing the chamber, or just sealing the whole receiver and mag well so every psi of pressure is exerted through the barrel. MY question is, even though I love this gun already and think it is fantasic, I need to know how it can be improved
